it is the topic of our Visiting Teaching Message of the month January 2010 - here
I've just discovered that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has provided us with a web site with all the necessary informations, tips and instructions that can help us understanding, learning, teaching, helping others in this very important matter.
Take a look at this site for the messages of our dear leaders that love us so much.
Thank's to their words, work and time we are able to have a better understanding on how we can do a little better to be more self reliant.

{RS Preparedness} Emergency Essentials
Nettie Allison has an announcement regarding emergency preparedness:
"I have been using their products for a couple of years and am trying to save for a year's supply of food. They have freezed dried and dehydrated foods, as well as emergency kits, MREs, cooking supplies, etc.. Look at the website. Anyone can order from them.
"Every month there is a group special at a very lowered cost to a group ordering at least 12 cans of the monthly sale item, and the shipping is free. This month of November a #10 can of dried cheese blend is available for $16 each (regularly $22.95). The order has to be in by Nov.24th. You can order as many as you can afford, just email me what you want to order before then. You will have to pay for any order before the sale is over.
"If you never used dry products, just think--"Hamburger Helper", dried milk, dried herbs, soup and gravy mixes, bisquick, raisins, jerky, etc. There are recipes around-even on this web site, so it is possible to use.
"The order will be shipped to me, and I will either bring your can(s) to church or to your home."
